Brookgate appoints Ivan Bennett to lead construction of CB1 development
Brookgate, the property development and investment company behind Cambridge’s cb1 development, has announced the appointment of Ivan Bennett as Construction Director.
Ivan, who previously worked for developer Hammerson and also led Turner & Townsend’s Commercial Developer Project Management business unit for London and South East will be responsible for implementing the 1.6m sq ft mixed use development at the Cambridge City Station Quarter.
Bringing experience on major mixed use city centre developments, Ivan will oversee the construction of the cb1 masterplan; projects currently on-site include a new office headquarters for Microsoft Research and the first phase of a 1000 bed student residential scheme for Anglia Ruskin University, both due for completion this year.
Sven Topel, Chief Executive of Brookgate, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ivan to the Brookgate team. We are now in the delivery stage of the scheme and having such an experienced Construction Director will enable us to continue our excellent progress on the project.”
Ivan Bennett added: “I am very much looking forward to being part of the team delivering cb1. It is an exciting opportunity which is not just being talked about – it is being realised and is also a vital project for the Cambridge economy, already creating hundreds of new jobs for the local area.”
The cb1 masterplan will provide 800,000 sq ft of commercial uses, 800,000 sq ft of residential apartments, student rooms and other uses including retail, restaurants and bars. The project also provides a refurbished station concourse, a new public square and a new transport interchange.
